MY PSYCHOLOGY SEMINAR


DEVELOPMENTAL TASK


Developmental task is a task which arises at a certain period in life of the individual, successful achievement  which leads to his/her happiness while failure leads to unhappiness in the individual .Havinghurst has given shape to this specific task.

 Developmental task of different stages.

  1. Developmental task of pre-school stage
  • Learning to walk
  • Learning to talk and respond 
  • Learning to eat solid food and drink water and milk
  • Learning to control the elimination of body wastes
  • Learning sex differences
  • Achieving physiological stability
  • Learning to establish emotional relationship with parents,siblings and other people

     2. Developmental task of primary school stage

  • Learning physical skills necessary for ordinary games
  • Building wholesome attitude towards oneself as a growing organisms
  • Learning to get along with age mates
  • Learning an appropriate masculine or feminine role
  • Achieving personal independence
  • Developing values and beliefs related to life
     3. Developmental task of secondary school stage
  • Achieving new and more mature relation with age-mates of both sexes
  • Achieving a masculine or feminine role to perform task
  • Accepting one's physique and using the body effectively
  • Selecting and preparing for an occupation
  • Developing intellectual skills and concepts necessary for civil competency
  • Developing and achieving socially responsible behavior
Teachers should be careful in providing learning opportunities and motivation to their pupils in order to enable them to succeed in developmental task. The concept of developmental task is helpful in planning the process of education.
